Youth Violence Reduction

Supporting young people in Lambeth at risk of serious violence and exploitation

OUR PARTNER
Lambeth Made Safer (VAYP) We have been commissioned for three consecutive years by Lambeth Made Safer’s Violence Affecting Young People programme, delivering targeted diversion and engagement work with young people identified as at heightened risk of violence.

Our approach is trauma-informed and built on relationships. Young people are referred through schools, partner agencies, families, peers, and self-referral. Once engaged, they access a blend of one-to-one mentoring, group workshops, accredited training, paid work placements, and creative pathways through our podcast and digital studios all delivered by a team that reflects the community we serve.

We don’t see violence reduction as separate from employability and skills. For the young people we work with, a meaningful next step a job, a qualification, a sense of direction is often the most powerful protective factor of all.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT?

Since 2018, Orange Bow has worked alongside young people aged 14-18 who are at risk of, or already affected by, serious youth violence, child criminal exploitation (CCE) and grooming.

Operating from our Tulse Hill hub in the heart of Lambeth, we provide a trusted, culturally competent space where young people can step away from harm and step into opportunity.

In the last 24 months alone, we've engaged 250 young people aged 14-18, with 100 of them fitting a violence or CCE risk profile.

70% sustain engagement with us beyond three months, a level of retention that reflects the trust we've built with young people who are often hard to reach for statutory services.
