UK YOUTH SUMMER JOBS PROGRAMME

For the second year running, we were funded by the charity UK Youth, where we recruited 27 young people aged 16-20 from Southwark and its neighbouring boroughs to undertake 1-weeks’ worth of pre-employment training with Orange Bow and placed them into 5-week paid work placements in Alex The Leukodystrophy Charity, media companies like ITCH Media, cafés, nurseries, and corporate consultancy firms like Alvarez and Marshal.

At Orange Bow we were not only delivery partners but also employers as Sage & Poppy Coffee Shop and MicCheck Studios which meant 6 different roles were experienced by our young people.

Some employers offered participants a permanent placement after their summer trials and we are thrilled to know projects like these exist to support our community!

Were possible, we are committed to making sure each person which comes through our doors is able to take on all our professional advice to encourage their future growth and development, and we wish all our participants the best in the years to come!

LAMBETH MADE PODCAST SEASON 2

This year Orange Bow was commisioned by Lambeth Council to record and edit their “Lambeth Made Podcast” in their new platform for young people in the borough to share their experiences on all aspects of education, training, and employment.

Some of the guests included local youth advocates like, Cllr Mahamed Hashi and former Mayor of Lambeth Jean Paul Ennis sharing their points of view in regards to matters concerning our youth, as well as inspiring business owners like Clement Ogbonnaya sharing his success stories and his diagnosis for ADHD.

Here at Orange Bow we made sure every detail was covered including branding and marketing products to reflect Lambeth Made’s vibe as well as looking after all the guests at our in-house state of the art MicCheck Studios.

SOUTHWARK COUNCIL ONE HUB YOUTH FESTIVAL

We were delighted to participate in the One Hug Youth Festival, hosted by Southwark Council at Peckham Levels where we had the privilege of hosting our MIMS Podcasting Workshop by Mic Check Studios.

Spending valuable time with young people from across the community, providing participants with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience, develop new creative skills, and build confidence in expressing their voices, while also fostering collaboration, creativity, and a sense of empowerment that aligns with our shared commitment to supporting youth engagement, innovation, and personal growth

Meet the learners who’ve found new careers, built confidence, and transformed their lives through Orange Bow.

After I finished university, I kept missing out on job offers at the final hurdle, and it started to weigh on me. Then I discovered Orange Bow’s Digital Media & Marketing course. Enrolling allowed me to upskill in a professional environment and put those new skills to use during a social media apprenticeship role at Orange Bow itself. Today, I’m working as a Promo Creative at Sky, and I can look back on my time at Orange Bow with gratitude. The opportunities and guidance I received there made all the difference in helping me get where I am now.

I found Orange Bow’s Digital Promotions course through the Job Centre while looking to pivot from graphic design into a new field. I realised social media could be a gateway to earning a living, so I signed up. During the course, I discovered a passion for podcasting—learning about lighting, video editing, and using professional equipment. Thanks to Orange Bow’s willingness to give young people room to grow and develop, I carved out my own path in podcast production. Now, I’m in a position to help others in the same way Orange Bow helped me.

I didn’t have experience in relevant fields or the industry. I was not happy it was draining me emotionally and professionally. After joining Orange bow through one of the Digital Marketing courses, I was offered job as an administrative assistance and throughout the 5 months I gained the skills and confidence. Orange Bow has given me the opportunity to work in fields I have not had the experience before, like the Lambeth Youth Summit as well as being a part of a friendly and inspiring team really motivated me to bring out the best in me.

After graduating from university, I faced significant challenges in finding a job. Everything changed when I completed a digital promotion course. The training provided me with invaluable skills in marketing, design, and online promotion, and gave me the confidence to apply these in real-world scenarios. I secured a full-time position through the practical experience . The combination of the course and my work experience equipped me with the skills and confidence needed for my current 9-to-5 role, where I continue to grow and apply what I’ve learned.
